Cairns Hospital partners with Rauland Australia to deliver Improved Patient Experience

Cairns Hospital in Far North Queensland has chosen to implement the Rauland Australia Patient Entertainment and Engagement system. The contemporary, next generation system will provide patients with an enjoyable and convenient experience, with access to a range of entertainment and educational content at the bedside.

Cairns Hospital is the largest major acute care hospital in Far North Queensland and is renowned for contributing to innovation and excellence in patient care.  The Hospital services a community of more than 235,000 people covering an area extending from the Torres Strait in the north, south to Tully and Jumbin, and west to Normanton and Georgetown.

The Rauland Australia Patient Entertainment and Engagement system is delivered as a modern bedside experience in collaboration with our business partner Siemens.  The Siemen’s HiMed Patient Bedside Terminal is designed to be simple to use with an intuitive, touch screen user interface.  The sleek design of the terminal and all components fully supports infection control processes.

A comprehensive range of services can be deployed on the HiMed Terminal including telehealth capabilities, internet connectivity, electronic meal ordering, on-demand entertainment and educational content, games, plus real-time access to clinical information via direct integration with hospital systems.

The new system will replace the Hospital’s existing end of life solution and will be deployed across 312 in-patient beds. Rauland Australia will provide full implementation and on-going maintenance and support services to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality services to patients.

“Our Queensland team is very excited to be working with staff at Cairns Hospital to provide patients with a high-quality experience during their stay in hospital,” said Steve Gomes, Director, Rauland Australia.

“The HiMed Patient Bedside Terminal is designed to be easy to use and intuitive. It ensures patients have the information they need at their fingertips to feel connected with their care team as well as family and friends whilst they are in hospital.”

The new Rauland Australia Patient Entertainment and Engagement system will allow patients at Cairns Hospital to access the following services: electronic meal ordering; entertainment and educational content; internet and email connectivity and patient surveys. The new system will go-live in first-quarter 2021.
