The role:
Reporting to the General Manager – Business Services, this sole charge role is both operational and strategic, responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts, developing commercial terms, and establishing robust intellectual property (IP) management practices. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams and external legal advisors to ensure business agreements are commercially viable, legally sound, and aligned with our strategic goals.
How would you contribute to our success?
- Deliver clear, commercially driven legal advice across contracts, IP, compliance, and regulatory areas.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage client, vendor, and partnership contracts.
- Develop scalable commercial terms and legal frameworks to support business goals and efficiency.
- Develop and manage IP protection strategies including registration, enforcement, and risk mitigation
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure contracts are compliant and business-aligned.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across all areas of the business
- Track legal and regulatory changes, embedding proactive controls to maintain full compliance.
- Advise on business initiatives to align legal support with innovation and growth.
- Leverage AI and legal tech to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery.
- Lead dispute resolution efforts and manage relationships with external legal providers.
- Deliver regular legal risk, contract performance, and IP updates to senior leadership.
- Support People & Culture in managing workplace relations and employment law matters.
What we are looking for | What will make your application stand out?
- Tertiary qualification in Law, Compliance, or related discipline.
- Proven experience protecting IP with strong knowledge of trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
- Proven contract management or in-house counsel experience, ideally in healthcare or technology.
- Expertise in contract law, commercial terms, negotiation, and drafting. Ability to deliver clear, pragmatic legal guidance that supports both compliance and commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrated capability to identify, manage, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across business functions.
- Skilled in translating complex legal issues into actionable insights for non-legal stakeholders.
- A forward-thinking, proactive approach to legal support with ability to anticipate challenges and enable growth.
- Experience developing legal strategies and frameworks aligned to business goals.
- Familiarity with legal tech and AI tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Collaborative and influential, adept at aligning legal views with operations, HR, and finance.
- Strong commitment to integrity and governance, contributing to a culture of ethical business conduct.
