The $60.5 million Weststate Private Hospital in Townsville (Weststate Private), the first fully digitised private overnight hospital in Northern Australia, has engaged Rauland Australia to implement state-of-the-art technology to ensure patient experience is at the forefront of its services.
Currently under construction and due to open in early 2023, Weststate Private will feature Rauland’s Concentric Care platform comprising: Responder nurse call and workflow; Concierge HiMed patient entertainment and engagement and Master Clock solutions across the 50 day and overnight bed hospital, along with four theatres.

Rauland demonstrated they were market leaders in deploying highly innovative healthcare technology, making them an ideal partner for us. “Our aim is to create a world class healthcare service, focused on providing patients with a hotel experience, not just a hospital stay as many patients will visit for day surgery only. Weststate Private will be the first surgeon-owned hospital in Queensland with all three founding surgeons living in the local community. All decisions made will be for the benefit of the community with a patient-centric approach. Our surgeons are the primary interface with patients. It made smart business sense that they had a major say in the design.”
“Weststate Private will be at the forefront of technological change in hospitals by adopting Rauland’s world class technology to deliver a high-level clinician and patient experience at the point of care,” said Kaushik Hazratwala, Founder and Director at Weststate Private Hospital. “We are adopting a fully integrated systems approach which will enable data collection in a uniform manner to service patients. Key clinical performance indicators will be measurable, allowing superior service to be recognised. The overall experience for nurses, surgeons and patients will be enhanced with access to timely data. Accountability via data analysis is critical to making informed care decisions.”
He added, “Measuring nurse call response times to ensure patients receive the attention they need when they need it, speech communication at the bedside and ordering entertainment and meals via Concierge at the bedside will all greatly improve the patient experience. Concierge’s patient engagement services are interactive and give the patient full control.
“Remote call accessibility via Concierge will also allow surgeons to speak directly to patients via the bedside terminals without the need to constantly be present in the hospital for face-to-face consultations.”

The Concierge HiMed patient entertainment and engagement solution is multi-faceted and provides the patient with access to entertainment, phone and internet services via a bedside HiMed Cockpit. Clinicians can also access the patient’s care plan, test results and medical record at the bedside
